We welcome considered pitches about rural change and continuity: the land, work, water, routes and settlements through which country life takes shape. A good proposal brings a clear question and a useful angle rather than a broad claim about the countryside.
What makes a strong pitch
Tell us the subject, the central idea and why a general reader might care. Explain what kind of piece you have in mind, what material or examples it would draw on, and any limits or uncertainties the story should acknowledge. Keep the proposal focused enough that its shape is easy to see.
The voice we seek
We value precise, readable writing that treats rural places as varied and lived in. Pitches may explain a process, compare approaches, trace a history or explore a change over time. Avoid unsupported sweeping claims, promotional copy and specialist language left unexplained.
How to propose
Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a short outline and any relevant context about the material you hope to use. A proposal is not a commission, and we cannot promise publication.
